Confined spaces are the right challenge for the DOP250
The German city of Hamburg is working on its public transport infrastructure. The expanding city’s underground network, or “U-bahn” as called in German, required the construction of a tunnel. That is where the DOP250 was used by the Dutch contractor Martens & Van Oord.
The tunnel site consists of sheet piles at either sides with heavy steel beams at regular intervals. This construction results in a very small operating area. The solution to the required bed leveling was using a DOP Submersible Dredge Pump 250. The 195 kW hydraulically driven DOP250 was attached to a crane, running on it’s hydraulic power.

The DOP250 is lowered in the small space the beams effortlessly. It pumped the high concentration dredged material to the nearby dump site using a discharge pipe. This pumping system means that no trucks are required to move material in a crowded inner city area – reducing the hindrance caused to the public.
